EnterpriseWorks/VITA is currently engaged in a commercial pilot project in Uganda that is promoting and marketing a low cost rainwater storage container.  The development of bob®, the rainwater bag, was based on information gleaned from studies of rainwater harvesting practices from around the world and an internet contest. The design parameters included low-cost, portability and the ability to be used in a wide variety of situations.   In Uganda bob® sells for two times the cost of a 200-liter (50 gal) plastic barrel and holds 7 times the volume, 1,400 liters (350 gal).  A promotional campaign has been developed that uses wall paintings, radio, posters and billboards to promote bobtm  and to encourage people to collect more rainwater at home.
